The Center for the Advancement of Christian Education (CACE) at Dordt University is excited to announce that Intermountain Christian School (ICS) will be the initial school CACE is partnering with for the 2014-15 school year.

ICS, located in Salt Lake City, Utah, began as a ministry of The Evangelical Free Church of Salt Lake in 1982. With a current enrollment of 279 students, ICS is the only regionally accredited, K-12 Protestant Christian school in the Salt Lake City valley (approximately 1.1 million residents).

CACE Director Dr. Tim Van Soelen believes ICS is a perfect fit for CACE services: “They have a strong foundation of providing Christian education to the Salt Lake City community as well as endless potential as the only regional Christian school in the community. They are passionate about providing faith-based, excellent education for their students.”

The ICS Head of School, Mitch Menning, told the CACE board in his presentation that ICS is “ripe for change,” which makes it a good fit for CACE’s services.

“They are in the middle of some very exciting changes – from board governance to educational innovation – and the momentum appears to be positive and powerful,” says Van Soelen. “CACE is well-equipped to walk alongside ICS as they implement innovative solutions to the challenges they are facing.

The ICS motto is “Shaping Hearts to Serve, and I think CACE and ICS are going to be terrific partners in that initiative.”

“The CACE’s partnership and expertise will supplement transition plans we’ve been pursuing for over a year now,” Menning said. “We are actively exploring governance shifts, educational innovations, financial restructuring and even potentially a campus move. I cannot wait to see what the coming years hold for ICS, and this partnership is an integral part of that.”

CACE is dedicated to collaborating with Christian school thought leaders, innovative practitioners, and Christian education supporters of all shapes and sizes to promote, innovate, advocate, improve, and sustain Christian education at all levels.
